For my birthday last month I got given some Sephora Gift Cards (DREAM.COME.TRUE) and I also booked myself in at M.A.C on my Birthday to get a makeover so I could redeem the cost on some Semi Precious collection items and have my make up all done nicely for dinner that night. Cos if you can’t spoil yourself on your birthday… then when can you hey? Oh and talking about spoilt… I think I did pretty alright don’t you think? On top of my gifted Sephora goodies and self-gifted M.A.C makeover (I redeemed the Rose Quartz MSF, some falsies and Creme Cup, and my Mum bought me the Hint of Sapphire mineralise eyeshadow), I also got the new Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation (thank you Boyfie), the Babyliss Pro Jumbo Conical Wand (thank you sis), Lancome Hypnose Mascara (thank you besties) and a Free Philospohy Shower Gel in Vanilla Birthday Cake (thank you Sephora for my free birthday gift)!

Sephora haul was done online at www.sephora.com
(Sephora does not take Australian Credit Cards nor does it deliver direct. I was fortunate enough to have my boss over in the US that had a US CC and address, and he forwarded it on).
M.A.C Semi Precious items and lipstick from M.A.C counter at Myer.
Lancome mascara from David Jones (and picked up the Gift With Purchase).
Babyliss Pro Conical Wand from Price Attack.
I love that you get so many free samples with Sephora online (I had to split the products up into 3 x $50 gift card purchases so I got 3 x the free stuff)
If you can, Sephora hauls are the best – they have so many good brands and the US retail prices are like half what we pay here in Australia.
This is what I’m wearing today, well close to it. My blazer is a little more peach and my ring is coral.
I’m heading to the Jurlique blogger event tonight. I’m sure you’ll hear all about it in due time!

Last Monday was my 25th birthday, so of course, being a girl, I claimed the weekend before and the week following as a kind of “festival of my birth” to enjoy being spoilt and relax. And it was great. Sunday we had a barbeque at home and the day was beautiful… glorious in fact! I had to wear sunnies and move out of the sun. The boy took on his challenge of making me a Hello Kitty cake, and as I’m sure you can agree, he succeeded well beyond many expectations (he fancies himself a bit of a chef). I finished off a great Sunday by watching my fave – One Tree Hill (I’m up to season 7).
Monday was THE day! I was given my new Canon Ixus 220HS by my darling boyfriend and after making sure I had perfect eyebrows (I actually said to the boy, it’s my birthday I have to have perfect brows!) we both headed off to Vue Lounge for a late breakfast. As always, the food was great. We then headed to the shops, where we met my Mum and had a look around before I headed off to my appointment at MAC to get my makeup done. The Semi-Precious range had been released that very morning, so I took delight in choosing out some pieces for the MUA to use (so I would know whether I wanted to get them or not – AND I DID!)
So with my makeup done, I then rushed off to South Bank with the family to have my birthday dinner at Bamboo Basket (dumplings… my fave!) and closely followed by a choco-verload at Max Brenner!
Now I guess I better get cracking on that quarter life crisis!
When I finally got the balls to try a red lipstick, who did I run to for help? The lovely girls at M.A.C of course! I love their lipsticks and if anyone was going to bring out the inner vixen in me, it was going to be M.A.C. So when I sat down and told the girl I was looking for a red lippy (preferably matte), she came back with this beauty – RUBY WOO!
M.A.C Ruby Woo (RRP $35) is a vivid bluish-red in a matte finish. The formula doesn’t dry out your lips surprisingly, but beware, your lips must be in top condition to wear this matte lippy, as any flaking is sure to stand out. My tip: before you start make up application, clean your lips and pop a small amount of Lucas Paw Paw Ointment (or any conditioning lip balm) onto your lips, finish your make up and by the time you get around to doing your lipstick last, your lips will be conditioned and ready to roll! You must use a lip pencil to outline your lips beforehand, and I also then continue to fill in my entire lips with the red lip pencil so that the lipstick holds to your lips for longer by minimising lipstick smudging and bleeding. My pick, Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Stay On Lip Liner Pencil in 021 Red Dynamite.
A red lip, especially of the Ruby Woo variety, is not for the faint hearted. But let me tell you a little secret – this look works best with a flawless and bare make up look, which means less time in the bathroom which is great for those times when you can’t be bothered or you just don’t have much time and you need to look sexy and sophisticated in seconds. Just make sure to amp up the bronzer for this look as you don’t want the rest of your face to look washed out. The colour is a true red and you are bound to get many compliments wearing it.
Being a matte finish, this lippy has serious staying power. If you’re anything like me, that’s a winner because I hate fretting that my lipstick has gone south or MIA. You’ll love that there are minimal touch ups needed with this lippy.
OH Ruby Woo… I love you xxx
