New goodies that will sparkle your pants off

18 Mar

Friday. 12:00pm. For some reason, I had my heart set on getting a sparkly eyeshadow. I think it’s because I saw the new L’Oreal Paris Infalliable eye shadows in Shop Til You Drop. Off I headed to Priceline, and as soon as I walked into Priceline I spied the new Gucci Westman for Revlon collection… MY OH MY! The Revlon Expressionists Collection for Fall 2011 is a collaboration with Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman. The 17 piece-collection introduces the new Revlon Diamond Lust Eyeshadows. For some reason Australia is only getting this now?? It was a Fall 2011 collection. WEIRD. Here’s some of the products from the collection.

I challenge anyone to walk past that display and not be captivated by the sparkly goodness. So then I went to work swatching. Here’s what I got…

The Revlon Diamond Lust eye shadow in 110 Starry Pink. If you know me, you know I have a current obsession with pink glitter, and this does not disappoint! It has glitter pay off ahoy and the colour is gorrrrgeous. Oh and it was down to $15.96 from AU$19.95. WIN.

The Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 025 Sky Line Pink (AU$21.95), which will most certainly become my new favourite nude lipstick… it’s a really light pink with a pearlescent shimmer in it. So pretty, and so in keeping with the pink sparkle obsession. I think I may layer this over a nude lippy thou… it packs a pearly shimmer.

The new Face of Australia Barbados nail enamel collection has hit shelves… and Priceline had 20% off Face of Australia. So I picked up ‘Bright Lights, Pink City’ and ‘Orange You Glad You Came?’ for the neat price of AU$3.96 each. These are such summery pastel colours and they have a pearl shimmer through them which gives them a point of difference.

I also just grabbed a Batiste Brunette Dry Shampoo (AU$7.99)… an absolute must have. Oh and heads up, they must have changed the design on the can to this ugly retro pattern sometime ago. I was confuzzled. It says NEW… but I think they’ve just redone the packaging. Not a fan Batiste… hire a new graphic designer.

Oh and just quickly… I want to show you my new wool cardigan (how nanna of me). It’s super cute and I foresee it becoming a winter staple. It will just layer so well with other things (i.e. clothes LOL). It’s from Sportsgirl.

It looks better on. :P

I also have some new Benefit goodies that have just arrived but I will save them for another post or else this will go on forever. :)
Alright I’m off to go dance to this song… Snoop Dogg’s Drop It Like It’s Hot. The boy asks me “Why do you listen to this music?” AHHHHUMMMM is he kidding? With lyrics like “so don’t change the dizzle, turn it up a little, I got a living room full of fine dime brizzles. Waiting on the Pizzle, the Dizzle and the Shizzle. G’s to the bizzack, now ladies here we gizmo”  who wouldn’t, fo shizzle?

New Year, New (organised) You! WIN a Makeup Box Set for 2012!

31 Dec

*** COMPETITION CLOSED***

If I had to pick only one favourite product from 2011, I’d honestly have to say it was my Glamour Makeup Box Set from The Makeup Box Shop. You might recognise these makeup storage units… yes they are VERY similar to the ones used by the Kardashian sisters as seen on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The Makeup boxes are made of high quality 5mm thick acrylic and are very sturdy. Very much worth the investment.

My little acrylic family consists of a 5 drawer Glamour Makeup Box (AU$124), brush holder with beads (AU$15 with any box purchase), and a nail polish stand (AU$21) and I have to say… I’m madly in love with my little acrylic family. Before they came along, the state of my bathroom drawers were atrocious and my brushes were squished into a pencil holder… horrible I know!! I couldn’t even consider getting more brushes or makeup in fear of trying to find a place to put them.

And here’s a confession… I’m a massive product packaging hoarder. I’m the girl who keeps all my new makeup in its original packaging and will continue to do so until the box is so tattered it looks horrible or it starts to annoy me. I just found that I could stand my blushes up in boxes in my bathroom drawers and read the names on the top, making it easier to know what’s what. Oh and also because I like to know what ingredients are in what… who knows, I may need to look at some of them if needed in a blog post.

So as you can see below, the Makeup Box holds A LOT of products. It so fun organising your makeup into it, I call it ‘Makeup Tetris’ lol. Having this storage unit was also the push I needed to get my products out of their packaging and into their new home! You can see from the last square that I got rid of a LOT of boxes. It was very therapeutic and great to clean and sort out my product stash. It’s amazing how much room the boxes were taking up in my drawers!

This is a snapshot of what products each draw holds… top drawer – eye shadows, second drawer – blushes, third drawer – lipsticks, fourth drawer – mascaras, concealers, eyeliners and primers, and last drawer (the deepest) – my box-o-powders, foundations, powders, illuminators, Illamasqua glosses, bronzers.

This is my little acrylic family… the brush holder comes with the beads and the nail polish stand holds 12 huge OPI size nail polishes (or more if smaller bottles). The Makeup box is also great to store perfumes on top, in full view when you’re getting ready in the morning, so you don’t forget to spritz yourself – and it also saves bench space. Yey!

To get your hands on these awesome makeup storage units, check out www.themakeupboxshop.com or head over to the Facebook or Twitter pages. The Makeup Box Shop does free shipping* within Australia (*NT, SA, WA & TAS Customers please add an extra $7 for shipping).

TAG: IMATS 2011 and The ABBW

20 Sep

So my excitement pants are well and truly on, some might say I’m getting a camel’s toe from them being on so high. Ewwww. I know I know. Sorry to make you vom in your mouth a lil.

So why the excitement wedgie (front and back) you ask? Well my pretties, I Miss Hip & Haute am off to IMATS in Sydney as part of the BIGGEST AND BESTEST BEAUTY BLOGGER WEEKEND IN THE WORLD (well Australia at least) titled The ABBW (Australian Beauty Blogger Weekend).

If you are a beauty blogger, I’m pretty sure you would already know about this weekend, but if you’re not familiar go check out www.theabbw.com to see what all the fuss is about.

In a nutshell, The ABBW is:

The Australian Beauty Bloggers Weekend (ABBW) is a first of its kind event for Australian beauty bloggers. Bringing together Australian beauty bloggers from around the country, the ABBW is a two day event that will include the International Make-Up Artists Trade Show (IMATS), social events and much more.

The ABBW is a unique opportunity for bloggers to meet, greet, network and partake in some fantastic events.  It’s also an exceptional opportunity for companies to promote and publicise their products to a dedicated and passionate group of bloggers, all of whom are singularly united in their aim to look stunning at all times.

So this weekend (EEEEEEE only 3 more sleeps) I will be jetting off to Sydney to partake, and boy will it be the most epic weekend ever. Part of the ABBW weekend is a visit to the International Make-Up Artists Trade Show (IMATS) and there has been a tag floating around about IMATS. I was tagged by the lovely Dana from Blushfully.

So here are the questions!
