On Thursday, Australia saw the much anticipated ‘Toxic Nature’ collection from Illamasqua hit stores. The idea for the collection was born when Creative Director Alex Box was stranded in Dubai during the Iceland volcano disaster, and it got her thinking of the rise in natural disasters and how it was Mother Nature’s way of fighting back and trying to rid herself of the toxic invaders that are the human race.
How Illamasqua describes the collection:
In retaliation against the genetically modified society that plunders it, the landscape has issued forth a torrent of hybrid shades. Corrupted hues glister amongst muted tones – extreme, intoxicating versions of their original selves.
This is an atomic-botanical environment where survival is key and camoflague by colour is the path to existence.
We scoured the abandoned toxic wastelands of the world to create an eclectic selection of corrupted hues for the eyes, lips, nails, face and body. Flitting effortlessly from poisonous pastel to hazardous neon, this cataclysmic mix of brave new tones take your look to the outer limits of nature’s palette.
Become a herald of the new age of Toxic Nature with uncharted night-time make-up.

The collection features two new sheer lipglosses in Divine (fuschia pink) and Torture (warm coral peach), 6 new cream pigments in Emerge (Peach), Bedaub (Mint), Dab (Lilac), Hollow (Toffee), Delirium (Rose Taupe), Mould (Grape), 5 new nail varnishes, two new lipsticks in Flare (a bright orange) and Atomic (a bright fuschia red) and a Precision Ink in Glister.
New Cream Pigment
The Toxic Nature collection has spawned a wild spray of corrupted colours and poisonous pastels in an intensely colour-rich, crease resistant, matte formula that introduces a brand new product to the Illamasqua range.
Six neo-toxic colour mutations create the ultimate in textures on your face, eyes, lips or body. Apply with an Illamasqua brush or simply use your fingers for a buildable, water resistant, highly pigmented finish. Layer under Powder Eye Shadow and Pure Pigments for intensity.
I was lucky enough to be sent the Cream Pigment in Delirium (the rose taupe colour) and I was over the moon! I love this colour… it’s so adaptable. You can use it all over your eye lids as a creaseless, waterproof base; you can even use it on your lips. Use to adorn eyes by applying with fingers or a brush for a buildable, matte, water resistant finish. Layer under powder eyeshadow for an intense effect. I wore it as an all over base colour, on top of my M.A.C paint pot in Bare Study, and it didn’t move or crease all day. I applied it with my fingers and blended it out, then added powder eyeshadows over the top. I can vouch for the crease free wear. This extrememly pigmented cream would be a great little number to have in your makeup stash to pop on before doing a smokey look of any kind.

New Sheer Lipgloss
Come out of the shadows with a high-shine punch of sheer corrupted colour. Toxic Nature sees the rebirth of two candidly intoxicating elements of Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss; Torture and Divine. Super glossy, with a sensual, sheer colour designed to enhance your lips, use on its own for added pout or layer over lipstick for lips that mean business. I was sent the Sheer lipgloss in Divine – a deep fuschia pink – but don’t let the intensity of colour in the tube fool you, it applies sheer on the lips and gives a subtle pink sheen. The lipglosses have a pleasant scent (kind of like strawberries) and I find these to be less sticky than the intense lipglosses.

The above photo is the lipgloss applied alone with nothing underneath. I love the colour and I also find the formula to be quite hydrating.
Sheer Lipglosses retail for AUD $33.00. Click here to find your nearest store location.
Here is a FOTD featuring the Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss in Divine and the Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Delirium as an eye base with Napoleon Perdis Taupe eyeshadow in the outer corners, Napoleon Perdis Champagne loose dust above the crease, M.A.C Mega Metal eyeshadow in Top of the Posh all over inner lid and Napoleon Perdis White Gold loose dust in the inner corners of the eyes and brow bone to highlight.
